It is time to talk about the Canon Powershot G series which has a huge presence among the compact camera market these days, and has for a very long time. I am a keen photographer and I must tell you that few cameras match all the features that you will find in this series in terms of lens flexibility, zoom range, manual control level and build quality. Photographers do not look at the Canon Powershot as the top option right now because Panasonic and Olympus have been working very hard with each one of their cameras to get more market share.

The GF1 of Panasonic is smaller than the G11 but comes with a quite similar external control feature, but you will not find cool retro metal dials here. However, it has 5.5 times the surface area of the G11, and this feature alone will gain many customers in the long run. However, I know that the lens range of 28-104mm of the G11 is way better than the one I get with the Olympuses and the GF1, but this is only true with compact packages. However, the latter cameras will offer you better control over depth of field and image quality than their Canon peers.

The G11 comes with a CCD sensor of 10 megapixels, 5x wide angle zoom lens using optical image stabilizer. It also comes with raw image recording, 26 shooting modes and lots of accessories. It does not have remote image capture. One of the things that you will notice when you compare the G10 and the G11 is that their style is almost the same. The only difference comes in the badges, grip covering and flash. However, Canon has made fundamental changes to the G11 when you compare it with its predecessor.

If you handle the G11 in a morning, you will notice an interesting fact, and it is that it does not have the alloy coldness of the past models, and its plastic rare panel is something unique in this camera but it uses the same surface finish as previous versions. The G11 only weighs 5g more than the G10, but its fold-out screen is more complex as well. Its handling features have not changed much, which is great because its predecessor had them very well made after all.

If you are a 1960 rangefinder, you will love the fact that the handling features have not changed. It comes with compensation dials and ISO, which make the shoot of this camera very much like a classic one. The G11 is an unapologetically substantial little camera, which had been the custom of Canon for all the G series. Pocketability is not so great with the G11 but it comes with a lot of features for you to put your hands on. The rubberized grip for the hand that you used in the G10 comes in the G11 as well.

You will be able to handle the exposure compensation dial at your fingertips easily using its two-handed grip. This unusual way of shooting is very appealing for photographers, and so they like to use the G11 a lot most of the time. Now it is time to talk about the coming Canon Powershot G15, which is claimed to be the brightest and fastest compact out there hands down. Lovers of the Canon Powershot series are happy with the announced release of the G15.

Canon G15 Specs and Release

I cannot say that this statement will be true but you will read some features that have been announced. The auto focus time of the G15 will be 0.7 when you shoot a photo at its widest with a 12.1MP sensor of image, it also has 0.36 of focus time at focal lenghts of telephoto. This data is not bad for a new compact, which promises to be the mother of all cameras out there. I need to say that the G15 has an awesome ability to capture low lighting images thanks to its aperture.

The G15 has the ability to shoot photos at a staggering ISO setting of 12,800 and it comes with a brand new CMOS censor. You will also be able to adjust exposure, shutter speed and aperture easily using its exterior dials which can be compared with a DSLR camera in this feature. It also comes with a hotshoe where you can store your flash memory, along with a LCD display of 3″, and the awesome ability of capturing video at a resolution of 1080p HD. Canon has announced that October will be the month of the release of the G15. As you can see, the Canon G15 is here to stay and you will like it a lot.
